Health and Wellbeing-The Best Me I can Be

Wellbeing is a state in which every individual realises his or her potential, and can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community – World Health Organisation 2014 

PURPOSE: To teach students how to manage their health and wellbeing through the unique challenges of current daily life.
Key components of wellbeing satisfied through delivery of this program and community:
Physical Health – exercise, nutrition, rest
Mental Health – mindset, mindfulness, gratitude, nature
Social Health – relationships and belonging

STRUCTURE:
• Deliver five units of health and wellbeing content highly relevant to the challenges we currently face.
- These units are super focused on the health and wellbeing practices that will best support students during this experience of online learning and self-isolation.
- Each unit consists of 10 – 15 minutes teacher delivery (via online/pre-recorded video) followed by 15-20 minutes of practical student application facilitated by classroom teacher or parent.
The six components of this program are:
   Introduction: The Best Me I Can Be (15 mins)
1. Mindfulness and Breathing (30 mins)
2. The benefits of being in nature (30 mins)
3. Mindset and gratitude (30 mins)
4. Exercise (30 mins)
5. Having fun (30 mins)

Student learning and wellbeing framework
This program will support schools to provide learning opportunities and environments that promote healthy lifestyle choices and provide health and wellbeing learning opportunities for students through curriculum focused on mental health, food, and nutrition, benefits of physical activity and safety.
Years 5 and 6 HPE:
The content provides opportunities for students to contribute to building a positive school environment that supports healthy, safe and active choices for everyone. Students also explore a range of factors and behaviours that can influence health, safety and wellbeing.
